    Echuca is a town located on the banks of the Murray River and Campaspe river in Victoria, Australia. The Border town Moama is on the northern side of the Murray river in New South Wales. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Shire of Campaspe. At the 2006 census, Echuca had a population of 12,358.

    Echuca, an Aboriginal name meaning "Meeting of the Waters" is indicative of the role rivers have played in the town's existence. Echuca is situated close to the junction of the Goulburn, Campaspe and Murray Rivers. Its location at the closest point of the Murray to Melbourne contributed to its development as a thriving river port city during the 19th century.

    Itinerary:

    Sunday

    Departing at 6.00pm PS Emmylou farewells the Paddlesteamer Capital of Australia and heads upstream while you enjoy our chef prepared dinner. As we cruise under floodlight to our overnight mooring at Flemings Bend, you are sure to see nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank. Watch for kangaroos, wombats, egrets and many other species of birds. After dinner enjoy a drink around the riverside campfire (subject to weather conditions) with your fellow passengers and maybe a song before retiring.

    Monday

    This morning we cruise to the historical Moama wharf where you will enjoy breakfast right on the river overlooking Horseshoe Lagoon. Here we commence your day excursion. We travel to Barmah where you can get up close to Australian culture with a visit to the Dharnya Indigenous Centre where you will learn about the significance of the river and Wetlands by local indigenous guides. After the visit, we then enjoy an Australian morning tea on the banks of the river at the beginning of the narrows.

    It is then all board MV Kingfisher for a Wetlands cruise with expert guide to share the secrets of the local flora and birdlife. Nowhere else in the world can you experience such timeless natural beauty and peace as when you are gliding through the World Heritage listed Barmah Wetlands.

    This afternoon we visit the award-winning Cape Horn Winery overlooking the Murray River. After lunch and complimentary tastings with the owners you have time for a walk through the vineyard or just relax with a glass of wine on the lawn overlooking the Murray River.

    Back onboard we cruise downstream in the afternoon sun before pulling into our evening mooring at Layfield Lane. Here you can take a swim in the river, go bushwalking or relax with a pre-dinner drink. Tonight, enjoy an Australian BBQ and campfire.

    Wake to an early morning bush walk or just relax over breakfast as we cruise back to Echuca where we reluctantly say farewell arriving at 9am at Dock.

    Tuesday 
    Early evening the PS Emmylou departs historic Echuca, the Paddlesteamer Capital of Australia and heads down river while you enjoy a welcome drink. As the sun starts to set over the river enjoy a fabulous 5 course dinner as we cruise under floodlight. Watch for the many species of birds and the nocturnal wildlife as they appear on the banks as we cruise to our overnight mooring at Dead Horse Point where we moor for the evening arriving late evening.

    Wednesday 
    After breakfast we commence your half day excursion traveling to Barmah where you enjoy an Australian morning tea before it is all aboard MV Kingfisher for a Wetlands Cruise with expert guide to share the secrets of the local flora and birdlife. The Murray River here ranks as the world’s largest stand of River Red Gum. It is a wildlife haven for 236 bird species, 50 mammals and more than 500 plant species.

    After your cruise, we visit Morrisons Winery overlooking the Murray River to enjoy a 2-course lunch with complimentary tastings, before we travel to the glorious Perricoota Station. The Station was first settled by James Maiden in 1843 to become a famous Merino Sheep & Fruit property. Free time this afternoon to explore the vast property and homestead before joining your fellow passengers for a fabulous dinner in the restored Woolshed overlooking the river before retiring to your cabin

    Thursday 
    Before breakfast enjoy a nature walk along the riverbank and explore the beautiful gardens and homestead before we set sail for a full day’s cruise up river. Time to relax with that favorite book or visit the Skipper in the wheelhouse to try your hand steering the Emmylou, or just take in the natural beauty of the river, birds and wildlife. After a leisurely lunch, you are welcome to join in helping the Chef make some traditional Australian Damper which will be cooked in a camp oven in the boiler by the Engineer ready for afternoon tea with fresh local jams and cream. What could be more Australian! Early evening, we pull into our mooring at Layfield Lane. Here you can take a swim in the river, go bushwalking, try your luck fishing or relax with a pre-dinner drink. Tonight, enjoy an Australian BBQ and campfire with toasted marshmallows.

    Friday 
    After breakfast, we return this morning to the Port of Echuca arriving at 9am where we say farewell.

    Departing the Port of Echuca Emmylou heads downstream for a full day of river cruising. Today you will enjoy cruising to the glorious Perricoota Station, first settled by James Maiden in 1843. This famous Merino Sheep and Fruit Growing property is where you will enjoy a fabulous 3 course dinner in the Grand Dining Room 

    TUESDAY
    This morning Emmylou departs for Torrumbarry Weir arriving at 10.30am. Today you will enjoy a full day excursion visiting the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement. Step back in time to relive the early 1800’s at this award-winning attraction before returning to explore the Torrumbarry Interpretive Centre where you will learn about the Murray Darling Basin, the river loch system and water conservation. Tonight, you will enjoy a chef prepared 5 course dinner aboard Emmylou.

    WEDNESDAY
    Today Emmylou departs back upstream to Perricoota Station. Here you depart for your Nature & Wine excursion to the township of Barmah, a short 30-minute drive. All aboard for a 1.5-hour Kingfisher Eco Nature Wetlands Tour with expert guide to share the secrets of the local flora and birdlife. The excursion then continues to the Perricoota Wine region with Lunch at Morrisions Riverview Winery & Restaurant. Enjoy a 2-course lunch with complimentary tastings. We then visit Pacdon Park famous for their UK Smallgoods for tastings at their factory before we visit St Annes Winery where you can relax with afternoon tea or taste their awardwinning wines. Tonight, enjoy an Australian BBQ beside a riverside campfire. Time to relax under the stars before retiring for the evening.

    THURSDAY
    After breakfast you can join the Skipper for a nature walk along the Riverbank where you’re sure to see Kangaroos and the many Australian native birds and animals beginning their day. Emmylou then continues to cruise upstream past the Port of Echuca and the imposing Echuca Wharf to explore the upper Murray River. Today you can join the Chef for a cooking class making real Australian Scones or try your hand at being a Skipper, learning to steer PS Emmylou through the winding currents of the river. Tonight, you are invited to join the Skipper for complimentary pre-dinner drinks before enjoying a Skipper’s 3 course dinner followed by a relaxing campfire beside the river.

    Wake to an early morning bush walk or relax over breakfast as we cruise back to Echuca where we reluctantly say farewell.

    Saturday Afternoon

    Arrive early and wonder the historic Port of Echuca. Find one of the many interesting cafe's, pubs and eateries in and around the Port. There is plenty to see and do in and around the historic port precinct. 

    Saturday Evening

    Departing at 6.30pm from the Port of Echuca you have time for a relaxing drink from the bar or a visit to the wheelhouse to see the Skipper as the sun starts to set over the river.

    Listen to the river birds evening chorus, watch for kangaroos, wombats, egrets and many other species of birds as the stars begin to appear while you enjoy your chef prepared 5 course dinner. PS Emmylou powerful floodlights then light the banks of the river as nocturnal wildlife begin to appear

    After turning we continue downstream back under the Echuca/Moama Bridge where we pass the imposing Echuca Wharf lit up for the evening and other Paddlesteamers moored after their day on the river. Emmylou then continues cruising down riverpassing Morrisons Winery & Restaurant, a great lunch spot before pulling into our mooring for the evening at Layfield Lane.

    Here we set up a campfire (subject to weather) under the stars where you can enjoy a good yarn with your fellow passengers. Relax with a beverage from the bar or roast marshmallows before retiring for the evening at your leisure.
