Designed for those who want to get out of the city to see the natural beauty of Victoria, your tour starts with pickup at your Melbourne hotel by a custom-built 4-wheel-drive bus. You then travel towards the great dividing range to the town of Trentham, where you'll visit Trentham Falls, the longest single-drop waterfall in Victoria.
After another brief ride on the bus, stop to taste mineral spring water and view historical sites of the Victorian gold rush and colonial development of the area. You'll do all this while traveling by 4WD through Wombat State Forest on testing tracks, which traverse the Great Dividing Range, running from South Australia all the way to Queensland (not that you’ll be going that far!). By traveling in an off-road vehicle limited to a maximum of 11 passengers (your friends/family or collegues) you're able to check out many hidden places not frequented by most other visitors.
Stop for dinner (location decided on the day of travel), which varies each tour; it could be a barbecue, a home-cooked meal, or a local restaurant. While you eat, wait for night to fall and the nocturnal animals of the forest to awaken. Then drive through the forest to a number of locations as you search for animals like the common nosed wombat and the eastern grey kangaroo in their natural habitats—this may involve going for a short walk through forest to find them. Enjoy the scent of the eucalyptus trees, and on a good night, you might also have the chance for some stargazing, looking for the Southern Cross constellation.
Your tour ends as you head back to the city for drop-off at your Melbourne accommodation, with your guide making sure you safely enter before leaving.
Exploring the scenic beauty of Victoria's Great Ocean Road is definitely the road trip. Your local operator wants you to experience the rush, but not rush the experience so they've decided that a little bit longer for this tour is essential to allow you time to experience, and not just view, the sights. You'll quickly discover why this region is Victoria's holiday destination of choice.
Take in the sights from your luxury Boom trike on the winding cliff tops as you travel the great road or there's time to wander down to some of the beaches. Start at the beginning of the Great Ocean Road at Torquay and visit various locations including Winki Pop and Bell's Beach before proceeding to Anglesea, Airey's Inlet, Fairhaven, Lorne and Apollo Bay where you take a break before returning. You visit numerous lookouts and other locations - such as Erskine Falls - for a diverse day and your local provider works with you in determining how much time you spend in various idyllic locations. It's all about the ride and the road on this trip with stops along the way to take in the breathtaking views.
Come on a magical hot air balloon flight over Melbourne - one of the few cities in the world that you can soar above in a hot air balloon! Admire Melbourne's city skyline at early dawn as your balloon flies for approximately one hour and then toast your good fortune with an optional champagne breakfast. Your Melbourne balloon flight includes complimentary hotel pick-up for your convenience.
You will then be transported to the launch site for your Melbourne balloon flight where you may help with the launch, or stand back and take pictures. In the early morning light your balloon will drift over Melbourne's parks, gardens and the Yarra River as the city comes to life. As your balloon floats above Melbourne you'll look down on some of the city's iconic venues including the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne Park and Albert Park racetrack. Your balloon flight over Melbourne will last for approximately one hour. After the final landing and packing the hot air balloon away, head back to the centrally located Pullman on the Park where you can then stay for breakfast or take a quick 10-minute walk back to the city center.
Where you fly on Melbourne balloon flights:
Balloon flights in Melbourne are weather dependent and your route will be determined by the winds. Your balloon may fly over Melbourne's CBD, which is laid out in a large rectangular grid like pattern on the northern banks of the Yarra River. Alternatively, your Melbourne balloon flight may head over the inner suburbs, parks and gardens to discover why Victoria is labeled the Garden State.
Explore Melbourne’s spectacular bay views and iconic bayside landmarks aboard a stunning Boom Trike and learn of some of the intriguing maritime history. Begin where Melbourne itself began by touring the Western edge of the Bay near the mouth of the Yarra River - start by exploring the historic maritime village of Williamstown, located on Hobson’s Bay and Port Phillip Bay. From here, you’ll see glorious views of Melbourne across the Bay, and learn of the area’s rich maritime history and its significance in both the development and defense of Melbourne, and its leading roles in our emerging industries of the time.Â
From there, cross back over one of Melbourne’s major bridges to explore the Bay from the Eastern side of the Yarra River and visit historic Station Pier in Port Melbourne, the berthing place of the passenger liners and the ferry to Tasmania. Then travel along the foreshore of Port Phillip Bay to visit the ever popular St Kilda area with all its charms and iconic landmarks including Luna Park, the Palais Theatre, St Kilda Pier and the Esplanade Markets (operating on Sundays only). The ultimate bayside tour gives you the time to walk around and explore these sights, including walking out onto St Kilda Pier to take in some great city views and maybe spot a Little Penguin from the colony in the breakwater.Â
Now move on down the Bay and tour past some of Melbourne’s most expensive bayside real estate, stopping for views from some glorious bay vantage points before visiting those famous Brighton Beach Boxes. Take the opportunity to get your toes in the sand and admire these colorful Melbourne icons. Then visit Black Rock Jetty to put the final pieces of Victoria’s maritime history puzzle together at the breakwater off Half Moon Bay. View the Cerberus wreck and learn a little about the only surviving ship of the Australian colonial navies.ÂAdapt and personalize your tour depending on your requirements within the time frame, so if you prefer less walking you may have time to include a visit to Albert Park Lake and a lap of Melbourne’s Formula 1 Grand Prix track on the way back from Port Phillip Bay.
Your half- or full-day private tour begins with pickup at your accommodation in the Melbourne central business district (CBD) by your private guide. For 1-7 passengers, the vehicle is a 2017 Mercedes Valente (subject to availability), and for groups larger than 7 passengers, the vehicle is a 2017 Renault Master (subject to availability).Â
With the flexibility to design your own itinerary, your sightseeing adventure can feature many possibilities, such as a shopping tour, a visit to the Healesville Sanctuary to see Aussie animals, a trip to either the Yarra Valley or Red Hill region to enjoy local wineries, or checking out the famous little penguins of Phillip Island. Perhaps head to the Great Ocean Road, or explore Point Nepean and the Mornington Peninsula. Or, enjoy a general tour of Melbourne to see city attractions and suburbs like St Kilda, Fitzroy, South Yarra, Toorak, and Brighton.
Prior to your tour, you’ll talk to your guide to decide exactly what you want to do during your seven or eleven hours of time with him or her. After your tour, you may take advantage of your guide’s concierge skills for the duration of your time in Australia or New Zealand at no extra charge.
